What is GRANTnet?

GRANTnet is a straightforward, free-to-use service, designed to help groups and small businesses to find suitable funding. The website is presented in the format of a step-by-step questionnaire, providing information from database of more than 4,000 grants, loans and other initiatives.

Community and voluntary groups, clubs, schools, social enterprises and small businesses are able to search across EC and UK funding sources on GRANTnet. These include, for example, government departments, local authorities, charitable trusts and corporate sponsors.

Who can use GRANTnet?

GRANTnet is freely accessible by anyone. Following a simple registration process, you may access the site using your chosen log in name and password, which will be e-mailed to you. The information contained within the database is relevant to all manner of different organisations and tailored to your chosen area of the country.

How can I access GRANTnet?

GRANTnet is accessible via 'host organisation' websites. These are commonly local authorities, councils for voluntary service and other support agencies. GRANTnet allows organisations like yours to undertake searches for funds that apply to specific projects. Having identified appropriate schemes, it is helpful to receive advice from supporting agencies that can assist you further. GRANTnet has been developed to provide a link between you and your local host organisation, where advisers may be able to offer additional support. This may include further details on individual funds and in some instances, advice and assistance with submitting applications.

Can I search for funding available anywhere in the UK?

No. Your searches are limited to the area covered by the host organisation through which you access GRANTnet. If your project is to be undertaken in a different part of the country, then you are advised to check the website for the local authority in that area to establish if it subscribes to GRANTnet.

Do I have to register and create an account to use GRANTnet?

Yes. By creating an account the host organisation is able to determine the types of projects for which funds are being sought locally. It also enables the host organisation to contact you (at your request) to provide further assistance and alert you of new funding opportunities that match your requirements.

What happens when I register my details?

You will be added to our database of users and a password will be issued to you. This will be sent to the e-mail address you provide when registering. The whole process only takes a few minutes to complete.

Do I have to register again if I access GRANTnet through another site?

No. Your username and password provides access to GRANTnet through any host organisation, via their GRANTnet access Point (GAP), therefore you do not have to register again.

Can I do more than one search?

Yes. Upon completing your first search, GRANTnet gives you the option of amending your search criteria, in order to refine the results or conduct further searches, should you wish. According to your requirements, you may also opt to run searches for both business ventures and community-based initiatives.

What happens to my GRANTnet searches?

When you have completed a search, you will receive details of all the funding programmes matching your specified requirements. A GRANTnet enquiry report will also be sent to your local host organisation. The report will contain your search criteria, a list of results and your contact details.

Why does GRANTnet pass my details to a support organisation?

GRANTnet recognises that organisations applying for funding are more likely to be successful if they receive support from people who are experienced in making applications. With this in mind, GRANTnet has been developed to provide a link between enquirers and host organisations that are in a position to help.

Who will have access to my personal details?

Your contact details and search criteria will be made available to your local host organisation. They will not be made available to any third parties or used to target you with unsolicited e-mails or advertisements. For more information, see GRANTnet's Privacy Policy, accessible from the homepage.

Where does the information on GRANTnet come from?

GRANTnet is powered by GRANTfinder, which has been providing information on funding programmes for over twenty years. All the data is gathered from primary sources by experienced GRANTfinder researchers. The information is regularly updated and new schemes are constantly being introduced.

Is there any guarantee of a successful application?

The sheer volume of funding programmes and providers can be a minefield. There can never be any guarantee of success. By using GRANTnet, the volume of possible funds is narrowed considerably by correct use of the selection criteria. Passing that enquiry to organisations that may be able to assist in the completion of applications will provide a greater chance of a successful conclusion.
